About Us

As a little girl, I remember always having plenty of dogs and puppies around.  I’ve been an animal fan for as long as I can remember.  Horses and dogs have always been a big part of my life.  When I was fourteen, I was blessed with “Ginger”, my horse and best friend.  I raised her from a foal and had her with me for 26 great years.  She is still very much missed.

We’ve always been an active family, with interests including down-hill skiing, water skiing,  canoeing, roller-blading, horseback riding, and bicycling.  During July of 1993, I had the opportunity to ride Ragbrai (Registers Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa).  It was a 6 day trip, 527 miles, on my mountain bike loaded with gear.  That event gives a whole new meaning to “achy breaky buns!!”

In the past, I worked as a book keeper and clerk for a pharmacy.  A few years ago I completed my Bachelors at  with a double major in History and Psychology.   I have a particular interest in the Vietnam War era and traveled to Vietnam in March, 2003.  I have completed half the requirements for my Masters in Counseling.

When the dogs are sleeping, I love to read History books, sew and quilt.

I have two sons, Ben and Travis, who help out with the dogs, especially when I need to get away for some much needed rest and relaxation.   Ben is a member of our National Guards and has completed his tour in Iraq.   He is currently employed in concrete construction and currently attending college.   Travis is employed with building houses and furniture.
